The interior makes use of the open plan and substantial glazing to establish a progressive dining experience. Starting in the lounge, diners can engage with the street through the main façade while historical interior glazing provides them with views of the dining area. Inside, what was open garage space is broken up by floating ceilings and banquette seating. These areas are highlighted by fine materials and strategic lighting which showcases some of the owner’s extensive collection. The large wine cooler, which caps the dining area, filters the view into the kitchen and uses material and light to highlight the extensive wine store.
Counterpoint between the historic structure and new use enhances the atmosphere the owner pursues with the restaurant where care is taken with ingredients to bring out their quality.
The lounge takes advantage of refinished interior windows and glass doors to provide views into the private dining space. Restored north-facing windows and brick exposed the original finish and character for a light-filled main dining space. Floating ceilings lined with rich walnut and dramatic accent lighting break up the larger space by creating various seating types and levels of privacy. Gold folding planes strategically define intimate banquette seating to the right, while central banquette seating, backed by walnut shelving, showcases the owner’s exotic collectables, and the extended wine cooler caps the view from this intimate space.
Custom fabricated steel wine racks and tinted glass filter the view to provide customers with a glimpse into kitchen activity. Lighting inside the wine cooler is placed strategically to accentuate the rack’s fabrication details. Thin lines of light frame the wine cooler volume, establish prominence, and create a focal point in the main dining space.
