deMx architecture is a young design-oriented architecture firm that was founded by Tim de Noble, former department head of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, and our managing principal,Tim Maddox, AIA.
We were founded in 2005 with a belief that vernacular building types are the buildings that we could learn our greatest lessons from. Vernacular buildings, such as barns, sheds, silos, and local houses all exhibit our most essential responses to the environment. They are built, almost by definition, with context and function being priority. These buildings are not built with style or prestige in mind, and therefore they age with grace, gaining value over time and do not reflect trends or dated values.
